Know Your Weed: Mood's Third-Party Lab Testing Process
Mood ensures top-quality cannabis products through third-party lab testing for safety and Farm Bill compliance. Learn more about Mood’s product COAs here.
Before Mood packages any product, we send it to a third-party lab to test it.
What are we testing our cannabis for? Lots of things.
Firstly, we only work with American farmers licensed for growing and manufacturing.
Beyond that, we ensure every product has a certificate of analysis (COA) to confirm the quality and help customers learn about what they’re buying or enjoying.
We mainly rely on cannabis scientists at third-party labs to ensure every product is safe and free of nasty compounds like pesticides, heavy metals, or mold.
They also confirm that every Mood product complies with the Farm Bill.

Get To Know Your Weed With a Certificate of Analysis (COA)
We include a certificate of analysis (COA) from a third-party lab for every product available at Mood’s online dispensary.
You can find the COA halfway down any product page under Product Details and Dosage.
Every COA we provide features a breakdown of cannabinoids present in a product.
To have a look for yourself, check out this COA for our popular Kush Mintz flowers.
You can see its total THC levels and how those break down across specific forms of THC — i.e., THCa, Delta-8 THC, Delta-9 THC, and Delta-10 THC.
Each breakdown features a full report on the cannabinoids present, which includes those that fall outside the THC classification — i.e., cannabidiol (CBD), cannabigerol (CBG), and cannabinol (CBN).

FAQs on Mood’s Third-Party Testing
Q: How are Mood’s products tested for quality and cannabinoid content?
A: Initially, we only work with farmers who are licensed to grow and manufacture. We also require them to provide their own COAs.
Before packaging products sent to us, we send them to a third-party lab to be tested for unwanted materials and cannabinoid content.
Labs test and record informational data on cannabis products — i.e., total THC content, total cannabinoid content, CBD levels, and levels of specific cannabinoids like Delta-9 THC and Delta-9 THC.
Examples of third-party testing practices:
High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
is an analytical chemistry technique that can separate chemical compounds.
Gas chromatography (GC)
is an analytical technique designed to measure the potency of cannabis and hemp products.
Q: Wait, what’s the Farm Bill? And how is this legal?
A: In 2018, the Agriculture Improvement Act removed hemp from the federal government’s list of controlled substances.
The legislation defines “hemp” as any cannabis product with less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC by dry weight.
All of Mood’s products comply with the Farm Bill. By using THCa — a cannabinoid that converts to Delta-9 THC when smoked or vaped — they can also help you feel the same effects as the cannabis you know and love.

Q: Why do I need a COA to buy weed?
A: You don’t need a COA to buy weed. But these certificates do make it easier to find ethically produced, safe, and high-quality products.
But if you care about the products you’re consuming and want to stay safe from unwanted additives or chemical-driven farming practices — a COA can help you achieve that.
While regulations vary and, in many places, are limited around Farm Bill-compliant cannabis products, COAs offer discerning users a path to transparent consumption.
Basically, if you want to get to know your weed at all and have an easier time achieving the feelings you’re looking for, COAs give you all the tools you need to find the right products.
