I'm a long-time cannabis user who only recently tried their first THC gummy.

It was an awesome experience that is comparable to my memories of enjoying cannabis edibles. While more different than consuming THC via food, there were also some similarities to the feelings I enjoy when I smoke hemp or weed.

Throughout this piece, I'll break down what specifically made my gummy experience special, with some added thoughts on how my experience could relate to different users and other forms of cannabis-infused edibles.

If you're wondering what I took, check out these legal THC gummies from Mood.

In this piece, we'll look at the specific THC gummy I took the first try, the best THC gummies I've had to date, and how THC gummies typically feel in my experience.

My First THC Gummy: What It's Like Using Them for the First Time

I started smoking weed in my twenties.

Back then, there weren't many dispensaries, and the world of hemp-derived gummies hadn't taken off yet. Yes, we're talking well before 2018, when the game-changing Farm Bill took effect.

For those who don't know, this piece of legislation differentiates federally illegal "marijuana" from legal "hemp."

It does so by declaring that any dry cannabis product with less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC by dry weight is considered "hemp." Products with more than that amount of Delta-9 THC are still considered "marijuana."

Today, you can find a wealth of hemp-derived THC gummies online that are Farm Bill compliant while still containing enough cannabinoids to serve new and experienced cannabis enthusiasts.

These hemp products are technically not "marijuana," yet they are huge among cannabis enthusiasts.

Trying My First Gummy

When I was younger, I had some homemade THC edibles in the form of brownies and cookies.

After that, my experience with cannabis edibles took a long pause just because life got busy, and I fell out of touch with them.

I tried my first THC gummy in my early thirties, and it immediately became one of my best experiences with THC edibles to date.

My First Gummy From Mood

My first gummy was a Micro-Dose Delta-9 THC Gummy from Mood. The low-dose gummy is known for its mild and mellow body high. With an onset of around ten minutes, I was able to confirm they worked as advertised.

Consuming my first edibles in a while, I opted to just eat half of the gummy, which kept the effects subtle, calm, and enjoyable, for me at least.

I liked Mood because I was able to check out their website and learn about the manufacturing process and high level of quality control. All of their products are lab-tested and come with detailed reports on what they contain. This was a major difference from other cannabis shopping experiences I've had as an adult, especially for infused edibles.

In addition to their wide range of edibles, the gummy selection looked top-notch with this excellent option for a newbie like me.

It took another half hour or so for the full effect to kick in. The difference between this and the homemade stuff I tried in my younger years was noticeable, but the core euphoric experience was as recognizable as ever, but with a great purity that I credit to Mood's refined manufacturing process.

These were top-notch cannabis-infused gummies with an accurately advertised dosage.

Once I'd eaten and enjoyed my first one, I was curious to try more flavors, more potent products, sativa options, indica options, and a world of various edibles.

Trying More THC Gummies & Cannabis Edibles

Since this excellent first experience with a great body high, I've gone on to explore the world of gummies and cannabis edibles further. I've experimented with different flavors, sativa and indica products, hard candies, granola bars, and other edibles.

Lately, I've been really into the delicious baked goods available at Andy's Bakery with Mood. These sweet THC products are baked with love, helping them stand out from other edibles you can buy online.

Each of these delicious treats maintains Mood's lab-tested standard across all of its products. They also come in a range of different flavors, some more potent than others.

The blends of cannabis oils and regular ingredients make for some of the best-infused treats I've ever had the pleasure of tasting.

The difference between Andy's Bakery's delicious infused treats and homemade ones is clear with the latter bring an air of sophistication and reliability that I've come to love. And at the same time, each recipe is noticeably baked with the purity of the food that inspired it.

All of Mood's Edibles pair excellent recipes with precise levels of THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids. The consistent potency of their products has made me a fan personally.

FAQs on Trying a THC Gummy

Q: Are THC gummies legal in the US?

A: THC gummies generally face the same legal limitations as other THC edibles.

In states where recreational marijuana has been legalized, a THC gummy is legal with any level of Delta-9 THC.

In other states, a THC gummy needs to have less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC by dry weight to be Farm Bill compliant. Other THC edibles face the same Delta-9 THC limitations.

That being said, with other cannabinoids, nano cannabinoids, and a world of interesting ingredients that can go into a THC gummy — i.e., functional mushrooms and nootropics — there's space for a wide, wide world of interesting cannabis-infused gummies.

Q: What is a lot of THC for a gummy?

A: When trying to figure out how much THC you should look for in a THC gummy, it's important to take into account several factors:

  • Whether or not you regularly consume cannabis

  • Your personal tolerance to weed or THC edibles

  • Your own health or metabolism

    • Disclaimer: Mood is not a wellness resource and cannot offer advice on any potential benefits of cannabis-related to health or wellness. For answers related to your own experience, tolerance, or any medical condition, please refer to a doctor or qualified licensed professional.

  • The type of cannabis extract in the gummy mixture and the cannabis plants that they come from

  • Whether or not you can trust they've been produced with precise dosing

While some of these are based on personal experience, most people wouldn't know or have access to the information needed to check on the specific ingredients or cannabis products used to make their gummies.

Because transparency is so important in the world of cannabis, Mood makes its practices easy to follow and check with detailed certificates of analysis (COAs) available for every product. Every product is also lab-tested by a third party.

This is as detailed as it gets for THC products sold online.

Back to dosage, it's usually best to look at the number of milligrams of THC in a given THC gummy.

Mood, for example, offers mild-potency Morning Delta-9 THC Gummies with just 5mg of Delta-9 THC and 2mg of THCv.

15mg of Delta-9 THC is on the higher side for a single gummy or THC edible, and nano-THC packs a stronger punch than regular THC.

Mood's 15mg Sexual Euphoria Advanced THC Gummies, for example, feature 15mg of Nano Delta-9 THC, 1mg of THCp, 5mg of THCv, and 10mg of broad-spectrum CBD.

Q: What's the difference between a CBD and a THC gummy?

A: CBD gummies differ from THC edibles and gummies in that their primary cannabinoid is CBD, which is a non-psychoactive and more subtle compound that does not produce the psychoactive effects that cannabis does.

Most THC edibles have CBD in them.

On the flip side, products that are billed as "CBD gummies" usually will not have THC in the cannabis extract but rather be totally concentrated with full spectrum CBD.

Never leave anything to chance. Make sure you can get a clear and trustworthy read on the type of cannabis oil and cannabinoids in a given product anytime you consume cannabis edibles.

Q: How long does it take for THC gummies to kick in?

A: In my experience, it varies based on potency, the type of edibles, indica or sativa dominance, and the cannabinoid content.

A gummy, for example,e tends to hit me a bit faster than baked goods. This is a good place to remind readers that consuming cannabis is a unique experience for everyone.

While it's helpful to check in and gain context from other people's experiences, you always need to consider your own unique makeup. If you're just starting out, try as little as you can for a more predictable experience.
